Re: TV for Free

Hi
My Name is Karim from SaveAndReplay.com just to help for some of the FAQs
1. What channels can i get?
On our website we have posted the list of channels and also have a link if you type in your postal code you can see what you can get. I take a pessimistic approach always for example in the GTA (toronto area) you can get up to 25 channels i always say to customer if you can get 14 channels then be happy. That way when people get more they are very happy, if you promise 25 and you get 24 then they are not as happy. In realty most of my customers get all the channels if they mount the antenna outdoors and point it south east. Some need to use a preamp to get them all. Problem with human nature is if you get 21 channels and you know you are missing a handful you want to pick them all up. Most people in the GTA use one antenna and get all channels a small number will come back to us and purchase additional OTA gear to ensure they get all the available channels.
What is the reception like in bad weather?
Its actually pretty good, fog is the worse and usually effects the channels that are further away like NBC, CBS, ABC!
Are all channels in HD?
No, All channels are digital , 16 are in HD, but even HD channels like Global will play HD in peak time and may not be in HD during the day time.
What if i am not happy with the channels i get?
Then subscribe to cable or satellite, OTA is a great hobby a great product that delivers TRUE 1080i HD of all the basic networks if you live in a good location, it is not speciality tv and you will not get TSN, CNN , Discovery and other speicaility stations with over the air. Over the air (OTA) gives you better picture quaility then any satellite or cable provider can currently deliver but is very similar in line up in the GTA toronto area as basic cable with 16 HD channels! The only difference is there is no monthly bills and you can free yourself of basic cable or satellite services! We dont take returns as we dont sell second hand equipment as everyone wants to get a brand new antenna for $55!
Why is the picture so good?
OTA is nothing new it has been here in Canada for 60 years and all that has changed is its gone from VHF (snowy picture) to UHF Digital also known as DTV, the technology of antennas have changed very little the only thing that is different is the VHF to UHF!
What do i need besides the Antenna to get DTV (Digital TV)?
Older style tv's only have an NTSC tuner which will get the VHF not the UHF so for older TV's you need a digital converter box, for anyone that has purchased a HDTV within the past couple of years they in the most part have a built in ATSC tuner (digitial tuner) so you can automatically plug your antenna to the back of your tv to receive HD or DTV over the air without any further equipment!
