Police in Durham region have laid criminal charges against an employee of Sherwood Bridal in Ajax. Detectives allege Yanique Miller, age 19, defrauded consumers at the store. Police say the charges follow a six-month investigation. Investigators say the woman "committed unauthorized and duplicate charges on customers' accounts, even after her termination date", acccording to the Durham police press release.
I started getting complaints about problems at the store back in the summer of 2006. At the time, store ownership (Jeremy and Rose De Mel) said all was fine. Customers were rightfully angry that their dresses were not showing up on time and, in many cases, had never been ordered from suppliers.
Scores of unhappy customers will be curioius to see how this story develops.

I went through alot of trouble back in 2006 when my bridesmaid dresses (which were paid in full) didn't show up at the store for close to 4 mths. I dealt with Yanique and she kept telling me to come in the next day, and the order would be there.... I placed a complaint with Jeremy (owner of both stores) regarding the service and attitude I was getting from Yanique and threatned to sue him if my dresses did not turn up the next business day. Only when Jeremy got involved, did I get my dresses. I did some checking with the Alfred Angelo manufacturer, and they advised that even though I paid Bridal Wardrobe for my dresses in Jan 06, any my order was sitting in the warehouse ready to be picked up by bridal wardrobe, since FEB 06, they didn't get their money for the order until August 06. YANIQUE DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EXCEPT GIVE ATTITUDE ON THE PHONE, AND ADVISE PEOPLE THAT SHE WAS THE MANAGER. I HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS STORE IS STILL IN BUSINESS.

IF EVERYONE ACTUALLY KNEW THE STORY OF WHAT IS GOING ON AT THAT STORE THEY WOULD UNDERSTAND, THIS STORE HAVE DONE NOTHING BUT ROBBED PEOPLE. YANIQUE WAS NEVER DISRESPECTFUL WHEN HELPING ME AND MY 9 BRIDESMAIDS. THAT IS ONE OF THE REASONS SHE REMAINED IN THAT CROOKED PLACE. SHE WANTED TO HELP PEOPLE GET THEIR DRESSES BEFORE THEIR WEDDING. ROSE AND HER SON ARE THE LIARS THAT JUST WANT TO BLAME ANOTHER PERSON. THEY ARE RIDICULOUS. HOW CAN YOU SLEEP AT NIGHT ACCUSING SOMEONE FOR YOUR MISHAPS. 62,000 MISSING. I DONT THINK SO. YOU GUYS JUST WANT SOMEONE TO BLAME.

I don't really think you can comment on my experience with this store and it's employees. I kept a log of each and every interaction I had with them, including who I talked too, what they told me, and when I was told to come back to pick up my dresses. This log turned out to be several pages in length. It got to the point where the Durham Police were called to step in, and a lawsuit was almost initiated. Yanique on SEVERAL occasions was caught lying, and even accussed me of not ordering my dresses from them in the first place. We also received comments about how 'Us CANADIANS take our weddings a little too serious"!
I sleep quite comfortably EVERY NIGHT! Trackbacks
